The Feeling..

“A wise man, recognizing that the world is but an illusion, does not act as if it is real, so he escapes the suffering.”
– Buddha

“What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I definitely overpaid for my carpet”
– Woody Allen

Do you ever get this overwhelming feeling of sheer beauty and awesomeness when you take in the simple fact that you exist, that you are conscious, that Time, the Universe and Everything is probably just an illusion in order to give you the sense of reality!?

I could be doing the most useless of things when this feeling overwhelms me. The other night I was pissing in some street corner when the stark beauty of the world hit me; The physics in everything, the blowing wind, the invisible air, the gravity that attracts, the centripetal force; the awesome chemistry that makes up our world, the sand, the cells in our body, the plants, the pee; I see an insect crawl by and revel in the immense complexity of the world even in the simplest of things, more so in the simplest of things and with my bike parked nearby standing as a testament to human intellect and the power of science.

To Think, The Visible Universe, All the Galaxies that there are, the Pulsars, the Quasars, the GRBs, the Black Holes, the Stars, the Gas Giants, The Rocky Planets, Our Pale Blue Dot, Amino Acids, Proteins, DNA, Water, Benzene, Ozone, Organic Chemistry, Life, Earth, Ellipses, Mathematics, Calculus, Evolution, Biology, Photosynthesis, Rainforests, Beaches, Sand, Schrödinger, Love, Strings, Branes, The Human Body, Quantum Mechanics, Plank’s Length, The Uncertainity Principle, Gluons, Bosons, Positrons, Homo Erectus, Bipeds, Genghis Kahn, Friedrich Nietzsche,The Birds, The Brain, Neurons, The Mind, Consciousness, To Think.

Just close your eyes, and think of these and all the other things that make up everything that we know of, just run images of these concepts in your mind in a few seconds and if that does not overwhelm you and give you goosebumps, nothing ever will.

Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in.

War

War is definitely the worst part of being human. When it comes to tolerance, we are no better than the other species with lesser intelligence. I simply don’t understand how someone can even begin to justify war. I just finished seeing The Pianist and I just can’t believe an entire race of people were targeted so inhumanely, for fuck’s sake can’t people think for themselves? Doesn’t every person have a conscience, to treat everyone fairly and not discriminate them based on race, religion, cast and what not. They had no fucking control as to what country they were born into, no control over the influences that made them choose their beliefs and religion; their God is no lesser than your God. Their beliefs are as important as yours. Their Rights are as important as yours.

Humans are stupid. We are just like any other species with one exception, larger brains and better intelligence. But what do we use it for? To kill each other, barbaric is what we are in every sense of the word. History is full of war, bloodshed, millions killed for some lame and stupid reason. I used to think I was very lucky to have been born in independent India, relatively peaceful but we’ve learnt nothing from our past. It’s peace here but war in Iraq, the conflict never ends between the Israel and the Palestine. Africa is still totally fucked and taken advantage by the powerful countries. Our times are only slightly better than the past. When there’s peace in here, total chaos at another place; when the conflict is solved and peace established there, some new thing arises in here and it just goes on and on and on.

You get one single life. You have one single lifetime. Why doesn’t everyone just live and let live? You just have to do the things you love and get on with your life and enjoy it and not go on and fucking kill people because they’re Black, Jews or Poor.

I guess it’s all about the beautiful symmetry in everything in the universe. Everything is balanced, the electron has the positron, human stupidity is balanced by our intelligence and compassion but what will it be finally? A nuclear war that would end life as we know it. Or would our intelligence get us out of any situation we may find ourselves in?

We have a lot of responsibility. Earth maybe the only planet in the entire universe with life on it and we definitely are the most advanced species (unless of course we are living in a simulation like in the Matrix and in that case the ones in whose simulation we are in are the advanced species See The Simulation Argument), and we have the huge responsibility of spreading and sustaining life. We cannot annihilate ourselves with war. It would be totally stupid on our part if we end up extinct because of ourselves and The Universe if left without any intelligent life. Plain fucking stupid.

Why do we kill people who are killing people to show that killing people is wrong?

The End Of Everything…

Check this out at UT.. Amazing article…

And speaking about the end of everything, if you like Sci-FI you MUST read the short story by Isaac “There are no words to decribe this guy’s creativity.. no words” Asimov called The Last Question.

Genius.

The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything

Humans are pretty unique among all the species on our planet because you know we are the only ones who can really think, about the really important and seemingly insolvable stuff. WHY? That is probably the only word that can sum up our brains and our minds. It’s really wonderful to think that evolution would lead to creatures so complex and curious that they will explain evolution itself, brilliant :)…

We would never be human if not for why… Why do we exist? Why does anything that happens, happens the way it happens? lol.. Why does anything that exists, exists the way it exists? It is our quest for knowledge, the urge to understand everything, our innate nature to question everything that sets us apart and has made us the pinnacle of evolution in our planet.

Science, the quest for everything through valid resoning and experiments has taken us this far and I’m sure it’ll take us to greater heights in the future..

It’s really awesome that we are able to do stuff that our ancestors called magic, the stuff of the Gods as the late Arthur C. Clarke once said, “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
As it happens in the film The Gods Must Be Crazy , our brilliant minds readily forge stupid explainations to inexplicable stuff say Thunder and Lightning for the early humans, they were considered the work of the Gods but now we can explain so much :). Our knowledge is so vast that a lifetime is no longer enough to get to know anything fully in any field but yet we know so little.

For us the metaphysical, the inexplicable still remain. We’ve moved on from instant communication to communication across space, from travelling on wheels to flying through air and vaccum, from having difficulties to travelling from one city to another now we struggle and find ways to travel from one planet to another.

We have moved on and will move on to bigger and more fundamental stuff. We’ve gone from explaining sunrises and eclipses to quantum mechanics to singularities to uncertainities.

For the early humans, everything was God’s work. Now we can explain so much and the role of Gods, Demons and Magic has reduced drastically. Eventually we’ll be close to explaining everything via valid reason. Maybe we’ll find out why we are here, what the ultimate fate of the universe is, or maybe we are just another species who’ll go extinct with no trace left behind once our sun gobbles up our home after a few billion years or maybe we’ll discover a way to reverse entropy itself and become the Gods ourselves…

Instead of thinking about all this you can instead just accept The Answer to Life, the Universe and Everything as 42 :D…
