Does free will really exist? Do we do what we do because we wanna do it? Or is everything just fate and predetermined?
What we call chaos is just patterns we haven’t recognized. What we call random is just patterns we cant decipher. What we can’t understand we call nonsense. What we can’t read we call gibberish. There is no free will. There are no variables. There is only the inevitable.
– Chuck Palahniuk
What if time is not straight but instead loops around, what if you have already read this line before and will read this line again, What if there is no past, present or future?
I though about this when I was 14: The Universe probably started with the Big Bang, then through billions of years it’s acceleration is slowly reduced and then The Big Crunch occurs until Everything is contained withing one single point of immense density, and then, a Big Bang occurs yet again and as initial conditions of the Big Bangs are the same everytime they happen, the same stuff happen again and again and again. This cycle loops to eternity, Eternal Recurrence ! To the mind of a 14 year old boy who didn’t even know Calculus or Quantum Mechanics , this was a simple and beautiful Idea :).
Anyway, six to sevens years later, here I am wondering if one can even begin to define Morality and Free Will if the same stuff are looped for all of time.
There are no moral phenomena, only a moral interpretation of phenomena
– Friedrich Nietzsche
There are no Rational Reasons for Morals, Ethics, Rules, Criminals, Prisons, Laws, Regulations, Freedom, Right and Wrong; Hell, There are no Rational Reasons.!!
Time is probably the Grandest Illusion of all.
